Very convenient right off the highway and easy to find. Nice comfort food next to gas station too. I am traveling to Vegas to create awareness to save last Gobi bear of Mongolia. I also have uploaded the whole menu items making it easy for you to see before you come. Free WiFi is also a plus.
You can order anything on the menu and leave happy, but the house fries are a must have!
My server was a kind lady. The cook made burger perfect. And the host was gorgeous! PS. Thank you for reminding me to grab my debit card 😂
Great food and service, nice small town restaurant!
Fluffy biscuits, delicious gravy, crispy hash browns, and sweet soft pancakes. They have a large breakfast menu (served all day long) including French toast, eggs benedict, B&G, pancakes, country fried steak, omelets, and skillets. They also have a lunch and dinner section on the menu.Biscuit and gravy $6.29 – Delicious!Chuckwagon combo $8.69 – 2 eggs, hash browns, choice of meat and pancakes. No cell phone reception here.
Amazing food! Great people! Awesome waitresses! Fast service even when its packed and they are the kind of people that know you after the first time of being there! My friends and family will ALWAYS continue to come here!!! 5 stars is no where near enough!
Although not as well known as the Adair smiling water tower, this little gem is becoming a mandatory I-80 stop for its great tasting food and funky urinal. In fact, Jessie James and his gang ate and peed here before they mosied on down the road to rob a train. Great place to grab a bite when gas station food won’t do. Very clean with a friendly staff...🚂🚂🚂🚂🔫🔫🔫🔫🤠🤠🤠🤠
The Chuckwagon Restaurant was heaven sent when we pulled into the Kum & Go in Adair and accidentally locked our keys in the car. The staff was exceedingly hospitable. Our waitress let us stay on the other side of the restaurant so we could keep an eye on our car even though her zone was on the other side. Did it interfere with great service? No, my wife ordered the Reuben, my daughter the chicken strips, and I the patty melt. Homemade ranch dressing was offered with the French fries. The food came out perfectly cooked and fast. The French fries are made to order and not frozen. What could be better? I'll tell you what...the fries are bottomless! Great place to dine!
Reviews were good, so I gave it a shot. I'm not a big burger eater, but the Rodeo Burger was really good. The meat itself was excellent, and Istay away from burgers because half the time the hamburger doesn't taste like beef.
Great food, friendly staff and we loved the decor! Large portions and home style cooking.COVID-19 note: not requiring face coverings and staff isn’t wearing them, aren’t socially distancing customers. If safety is important might want to find a different restaurant. We had our masks on but weren’t overly comfortable while eating.
Good food. Good staff. Nice atmosphere
I don't think I'll be back. It was awful, but I did walk away feeling sick. I think it was just too much grease, especially the fries. Burger was decent. Not a super clean place.
We stopped for breakfast on our way to Des Moines after reading all the different good reviews. It was outstanding! They have a full menu to order from at all times of the day. I always tend to like places that let you order breakfast whenever, but this place goes above and beyond and lets you order lunch/dinner at breakfast time for those odd like me. Most of us ordered breakfast in our group, but my kids wanted chicken strips and we all wanted to try the cheeseballs at 9:30am!My meal of a bacon and cheese omelette, hash browns, and pancakes was enormous. The cinnamon rolls are huge and take up the entire plate.I can't wait to go back and try the burger and fries. The fries are endless and are homemade and I have heard how great they are.The place is also decorated nice with most of the items throughout the restaurant for sale.Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing by!
The burgers were soggy. There was still a steak sticker on my steak. The fries were soggy. Its all good food/menu but its cooked and prepared poorly. They even forgot my sons tomatoe and lettuce on his burger. And it all cost about $60....
We stopped at the Chuckwagon for breakfast and we're so very glad we did. The food was delicious and the atmosphere very welcoming. We will definitely be back every chance we get!
Food was very good I would recommend it
Stopped here on a road trip, great service, great food. And even open at 100% right now.
The hamburgers are awesome! The fries are too oily to enjoy. The waitress was attentive and on time with drinks and other needs.
AMAZING! So glad we found this place on the Roadtrippers app! The food was amazing. The service was great! The atmosphere was great! I love that I can go shopping and eat all at the same time!! Everything we had was so good!!
Burger was very good but the fresh cut fries stole the show. They where cooked through, but still crispy on the outside. Very good. I would stop again if I'm near by during lunch or dinner
One of the best pork tenderloin sandwiches ever! And they serve endless skinny hand cut fries along with it. We stopped for a late lunch and for sure won’t be having dinner later. Clean. Server was very nice and helpful.
I went in because I had some time to kill before work. I have not been in Adair for years. I asked if I could get a quick biscuit and gravy and a cup of coffee. The coffee was great. Of course I dribbled and I saw a roll of paper towels I thought maybe they got left from last time the table was cleaned. Nope all the tables had them. How unique. Sally the waitress was very sweet. I'll be back. It might just be my Thursday morning stop.
Stopped in from a long drive from out west. Service was fast and friendly. Tried the brisket with and cheese. Was very good. My wife had the tenderloin and was great as well. If in the area again, we'll definitely be eating there again.
Nice waitress, clean restaurant and wonderful home cooked food.
Good food, friendly service, I go here about every time I'm through the area for a bit.
This place really has it all. The perfect destination to split up an otherwise long boring road trip. The food is superb, you can really tell it's all home made. The burgers they are so well known for are fresh and perfectly cooked. The server is friendly and fast. Always on top of our needs without being overbearing. And finally the atmosphere is consistent and fun. Every bit of decor is purposeful and provides the feeling of a warm dinner that would make any traveler feel homesick. I implore you to stop here whenever you have the change! PS: they do have bendy straws with all drinks and they can be used to make self starting siphons in your drink glass.
So many delicious meals on the menu we could hardly pick. Best Cole Slaw I ever ate.
Pancakes. Always get the pancakes. Just traveling through, and stopped here for Breakfast. They are open (after the covid lockdowns) and the food and environment are totally awesome. Loved this place. Will visit again any time we come through!
Excellent American comfort food & service is top notch! They're family focused and absolutely kid friendly from the menu to the service and right down to the step stool for the sink in the rest room. Highly recommend and hope we make it back around this way soon.
Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, delicious food, friendly staff
I Sandra Mickle highly recommend The Chuckwagon Restaurant in Adair Iowa, because it has an excellent selection and extremely great food for good prices. It is a very clean and well maintained business. The employees and managers are very professional, are exceptionally talented, and bring to you their very best in great work ethics, abilities, and hospitality you come to expect in any food establishment . You can find it to be a pleasant, and wonderful place for small or large get togethers in a small town setting you can always call home.
Great food and atmosphere. We love this restaurant! The hand breaded chicken fried steak was amazing!
Good food, prepared quickly for an okay price
My favorite place for a great burger. Fish on Friday night is incredible! If you want a drink with dinner? They have about everything. Alsi breakfast all day! Great place!
Great hamburger. Typical rural chairs/tables decor with interesting stuff.
My family and I stopped here on the way home from a vacation out west. I must say that this breakfast was probably the best that I had eaten the whole trip. That says a lot considering that I had been in 14 different states and eaten breakfast in many of them. Their food was very well prepared and in hearty portions. Prices were very good for the amount and quality of food we got. Highly recommend for the food and the old-time feel you get when you walk through the doors.
Food was great. Service was very good. Place was clean.
The the food was good. I had soup and cheese balls. The atmosphere was nice.
Very good home made comfort food! Very friendly staff. So much better then a chain restaurant. We were pleased to find it easy access just off the interstate on our way back to Omaha.
This is a gem of a restaurant that serves comfort food and beers right off Interstate 80 near Adair. The Rodeo Burger was great as we're the Bottomless Homemade Fries". Our server was just as sweet as can be too and hard-working. Plus, the urinal in the men's bathroom is made from a keg. This place captures Iowa's charm!
Great food, large servings at great prices. Friendly staff right off the freeway so easy access. I highly recommend a visit to enjoy there variety of comfort food.
We took visitors from California there because they wanted a pork tenderloin sandwich, we can't wait to go back. Service was great and one of the guys said they'd never seen a urinal like the one there!! Highly recommend this place.
Nice place just off the highway. Good food and great service! Will stop again.
Food was delicious! Homemade and fresh taste! I had fried chicken and avocado sandwich with original fries!
I absolutely love this place. The mushroom Swiss burger was the best I've ever had. I'll be stopping back in September on my way to back Bozeman, Montana! The atmosphere rustic and our server was great!
Great food, endless homemade or steak fries, several burger choices, one of them won an award
I had an absolutely horrible time trying to decide which burger to try! They all had mouthwatering descriptions of some of my favorite combinations! I finally decided on the "Iowa's Best" Chuckwagon. After a very green and fresh salad, they brought out the incredibly flavorful Chuckwagon (pretty sure angels were singing in the background). Definitely a best stop between Omaha and Des Moines!
Great food and awesome homey feel
The food was delicious!!
They have the best French fries
